Texas Beekeepers Assoc. Summer Clinic

A full day of buzzing break-out sessions, hands-on learning, and hive-minded fellowship. Whether you’re a brand-new beekeekper or a seasoned pro, there will be something to help you grow, connect, and pollinate your knowledge. Come ready to learn, ask questions, share stories, and socialize with fellow bee enthusiasts.

We are excited to announce that James C. Nieh will be our keynote speaker at the Summer Clinic!

Professor James C. Nieh was born in Taiwan and raised in Southern California. He earned his B.A. from Harvard and Ph.D. from Cornell before joining UC San Diego, where he is Professor of Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution and Associate Dean in the School of Biological Sciences. His honors include the Hambleton Award for Excellence in Bee Research, the Springer Nature Distinguished Editor Award, and election as a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society.

Dr. Nieh studies bee communication, cognition, and health, focusing on how pesticides, pathogens, and nutrition affect social behavior and resilience in honey bees, bumble bees, and stingless bees.

Louisiana Beekeepers 64th Annual Convention

Louisiana Beekeepers 64th Annual Convention

The Louisiana Beekeepers Association (LBA) will have their 64th Annual Convention at the Country Inn & Suites, Pineville, LA  –  August 21-22, 2026. The event will begin Friday morning at 9 a.m. and conclude Saturday at 3 p.m. Doors open at 8 a.m.

  • Over 30 vendors with the latest technology, equipment, and wonderful bee-related items will be present. (Plan on conducting your Christmas shopping for all of your friends and family!)
  • Contests for honey-baked goods, honey judging, and decorated brood boxes are planned for this year.
    • Honey-baked goods must contain honey as the principal sweetening ingredient. (2025 Honey Baked Goods Competition.pdf). Please provide the recipe on a 8.5 x 11″ sheet of paper. Submit entries by 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 23, to be judged Friday afternoon. Winners will be announced during the banquet and again during the Annual General Membership Meeting on Saturday morning.
    • Black jar honey contest is open to ALL attendees with all entries submitted by 10:00 a.m. on Friday. 2025 Black Jar Honey Contest Rules.pdf  This year we will be selecting the best tasting honey from the five Louisiana regions, narrowing down the entries to the top 5 honeys and then selecting an overall state winner. Winners will be announced Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at the conclusion of the Convention.
    • Decorated brood box contest. Click here to download the 2025 Brood Box Art Competition Form.pdf Boxes must be submitted by 10:00 on Friday. All boxes will be auctioned during Friday night’s banquet.
  • Silent and live auctions will be held – consider donating an item to either auction.
  • A special buffet banquet will be held in conjunction with the live auction on Friday night, August 23. Banquet tickets are $25 each.

Registration looks a little different this year. You will register for the Friday night dinner on a separate form after you register for the conference. The link will be in your registration email. Also, in order for the committee to be able to properly plan to accommodate as many people as possible (and avoid what happened last year when we sold out) we will CLOSE REGISTRATION ON SEPTEMBER 5. There will be no late or walk-in registration.
